Where To Find The Most Delicious French Toast Around Columbus

Posted

Every day is a good day to have French toast.

It’s a breakfast essential in my house, and I know I’m not the only one. I think what I love most about French toast is the versatility of it. You can have it on cozy, winter days or on sunny summer patios. You can keep it simple or load it up with toppings. Basically, there’s no way for French toast to be bad.

But that’s enough talking. It’s time to devour some of the best French toast in Columbus.

The Woodbury | Downtown

I may or may not have a little obsession with The Woodbury, but it’s for a good reason: their menu is freakin’ delicious. The Blueberry Lemon French Toast is brioche in a cinnamon-spiced batter, topped with lemon cream cheese and blueberry compote. It’s served all day, every day.
Location: 215 E Town Street

DK Diner | Grandview

Breakfast at DK Diner is always a treat, but that’s especially true when you order the French toast. The French toast is made with two thick slices of brioche and a housemade cinnamon spice batter. It’s more traditional than some of the others on this list, but that’s not a bad thing. Sometimes, you just want the classics.
Location: 1715 W 3rd Ave

Tommy’s Diner | Franklinton

Speaking of classics… Tommy’s Diner has become my go-to French toast destination. It’s so filling and the duo of butter and whipped cream simply can’t be beat. Plus, Tommy’s has a vintage vibe that makes for an authentic old-school diner experience.
Location: 914 West Broad Street

Starliner Diner | Hilliard

Starliner Diner is such a gem. They have a ton of breakfast favorites to choose from, but their Cuban French toast is out of this world. It’s perfectly seasoned and topped with powdered sugar and fresh fruit. Sign. Me. Up.
Location: 4121 Main St, Hilliard

HangOverEasy | Campus, Olde Towne East + Dublin

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you combined cinnamon rolls and French toast? You don’t have to wonder anymore. HangOverEasy’s Cinnamon Roll French Toast is sliced cinnamon roll bread that’s grilled then topped with buttercream icing, fruit, and whipped cream. Absolutely divine.
Location: 1646 Neil Ave and 51 Parsons Ave, plus 6757 Longshore St, Dublin (locations)

Katalina’s | Harrison West, Clintonville + Bexley

Katalina’s dips its brioche in a housemade horchata batter. The Horchata ‘French’ Toast is three slices, grilled with buttered sugar and served with Milligan’s maple syrup. Bacon comes on the plate too, regular or Sweet ‘N’ Spicy.
Location: 1105 Pennsylvania Ave in Harrison West and 3481 N High St in Clintonville, with a third shop at 2741 E Main St, Bexley

Delaney’s Diner | Westerville, Groveport, East Side + Grandview Heights

Delaney’s does its French toast on challah: three slices in a vanilla batter, grilled golden brown. Powdered sugar and butter go on top, with syrup to finish. The Grandview Heights diner is closed Monday and Tuesday.
Location: 5916 Westerville Rd in Westerville and 6150 E Main St on the east side, plus 674 Main St in Groveport and 1105 W 1st Ave in Grandview Heights

Forno Kitchen + Bar | Short North

Brunch at Forno runs Friday through Sunday, and that’s when the French toast is on. There are two. The Nutella Stuffed French Toast comes with caramelized bananas, hazelnuts, Milligan’s Ohio maple syrup and whipped cream. The plain one is classic brioche with fresh berries and whipped cream, plus the same syrup.
Location: 721 N High St
