Mark Keough announced he’s won the race for Montgomery County judge, defeating James Graf.
The election pitted Republican incumbent Mark Keough, who has served as county judge since 2019, against Democrat James Graf, a business and finance professional.
Keough, a former state representative, sought a third term after campaigning on his record of lowering county tax rates, investing in road improvements and supporting law enforcement. His priorities included managing the county’s rapid growth, improving infrastructure and maintaining conservative budgeting practices.
Graf campaigned on long-term financial planning, government transparency and infrastructure improvements. He also emphasized preparing Montgomery County for continued population growth and addressing future needs involving public safety, roads and county facilities.
Despite the title, the county judge does not preside over a courtroom. Instead, the position leads Montgomery County Commissioners Court, which oversees the county budget and decisions involving infrastructure, public safety, emergency management and other county services.
The winner will serve a four-year term beginning in January 2027.
